The step-up version of the FY2017 Dementia Skills Training Program for Primary Care Doctors was conducted.

This training program was conducted for those who completed the basic version of the Dementia Skills Training Program for Primary Care Doctors for the purpose of enhancing their medical care techniques for patients with dementia. The step-up version consists of two sessions.

The first session was held on November 20 (Monday).
The theme was "Pharmacotherapy for Patients with Dementia."
Dr. Fukuhara of Kumamoto University Hospital served as the lecturer.

The second session was conducted on December 11 (Monday).
The theme was "Automobile Driving by Patients with Dementia."
Dr. Tanaka of Kumamoto University Hospital served as the lecturer.

Both sessions were held on Monday, but many people came all the way to participate in them.

Questions from participants to Dr. Fukuhara did not stop even after the session was over.
★"Automobile Driving by Patients with Dementia"
Doctors who participated in this session were asked to write a medical certificate for a simulated case.

Amid an approaching typhoon, this 52nd workshop was nevertheless held safely at Yoshida Hospital. Since it was four years ago that a case study workshop was last held at Yoshida Hospital, the staff members who participated in that workshop four years ago were talking about it with nostalgia. A hospital site tour was also held along with the case study workshop, and participants found both of them very meaningful and informative.

The next Case Study Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, December 9, at Kumamoto University Hospital.

This case study workshop was held at Aso Yamanami Hospital as we entered the rainy season. The staff of the hospital welcomed us very warmly and organized a hospital site tour. In fact, we found it very inspiring that this milestone 50th case study workshop was held in "the world's best caldera," which was first time in the world!

This fiscal year's first core center case study workshop was held.
We are going back to the basics this fiscal year, enhancing case-based studies. We also plan to hold "basic lectures on dementia" for those who will work for dementia patients for the first time and those who want to deepen their understanding about dementia.
